Last Friday was my 51st! So.. Digger Dan and I headed for Jarbidge NV. To assess the fire damage from the 650,000 acre Murphy fire a while back... I drove the trusty M-37 with a freshly rebuilt front axle, Thanks to Steve Elliot!!! Digger had a monster S-10 blazer with 18 x 44" monster mudders! and his 350 chev out of his service van...I wanted to break in the front axle after breaking it in Moab! Digger had only rear axle drive as he broke the pinion at a mud bog a few weeks ago! Anyway, Saturday was spent wheeling around the mountains..we had a great time! ( Arriving in Jarbidge at 3 AM, I forgot to bring a camera ) We found the fire had reached the ridgeline west of town but was stopped there by the ridge road that was hastily widened to 30-40 feet by a cat. The ridge road is now very rough! It should be a great ride next spring!! Digger did great and I only had to winch him up one very steep hill on the ridge because of all the loose dirt left by the cat! The townspeople were glad to see us and are faring well now. I attended an unexpected multiple birthday party Saturday nite! Thus Sunday was a slow going day, we enjoyed rain and 2-3 inches of snow on the way back to Wendell!Digger had the hardest time as he had no wipers and the 44's threw a lot of mud and snow onto the windshield! We stopped at Castleford Idaho for a hot toddy or two then proceeded hom! A great way to celebrate the birthday!!
