My rant is not towards anyone in particular.
In the US, the national electrical code book takes way more than 2 hours to read. In my continuing education class to keep my masters electrican/ contractors license, the teacher was telling us that most Americans read at a 5th grade level (wonder what level we spell at) but the code book is written at a 2nd year college level. You almost need to be a lawyer to read it and understand it properly.
In most states here, any homeowner that lives in their single familiy house can wire it. Funny though they can't install their own septic system.
I fix a lot of do it yourself caused problems. I agree most people on this forum are probably capable of doing their own electrical work. On the other hand I see a lot of auto mechanics home wiring work that its a amazing their house is still standing. remember its always easy if you know what you are doing. In my case I'd rather work longer at what I do best and have someone else repair my plumbing or whatever. I make more money that way. How many trips to the hardware store did it take to fix whatever? I do find it quite insulting that everyone thinks that because they managed to make a light go on after they wired it, that they have the same abilities as I do
