Data plate(s) question.

My 1948 Powerwagon has 6 small holes in the panel between the wiper motors, above the rearview mirror. These holes are very precisely spaced and look like the same size as the holes in my glove box door and dash where the data plates were. It appears there was a larger data plate with four holes and a smaller one with two. So my question is does anyone know if data plates were put up there and what kind they might have been?
