Some years ago I saw my neighbor working on the front door of his house with some bondo. I asked him what was up, and he said "Don't tell the landlord, but..." apparently his female housemate's boyfriend's buddy (got that?) had just gotten a new rifle and brought it over to show his friend. They occasion apparently was cause for celebration, or at least drinking, and after a number of beers while admiring the gun, darned if the thing didn't up and shoot a hole in the front door. This was in an old downtown neighborhood, but fortunately the bullet missed the parked cars on the street and went into the dirt bank in front of the house across the street. I didn't tell the landlord until last spring when I sold my house, but I was sure glad the gun was pointed south instead of east when it decided to shoot, or I'd have had holes in several walls of my house.
