You are right about that. I have had some experiences in the past where the cable broke or a chain broke instead of the shear pin. In all of these cases I was using the recommended cable for the winch, and the shear pin was factory supplied. My thought was if someone had put a hardened bolt in place of the shear pin, he could have trouble with the bigger cable. JH
