Like the others, I feel you have a problem with humidity, and need a dehumidifier.
My basement "seems" dry, but if I do not run a dehumid unit, I will get mold on objects like leather.
As far as the leather, an oxalic acid solution is what is used by professionals on undyed leather. I think a weak acid (vinegar) solution would work fine to get the stuff off the leather you have. Experiment on a corner first to see how it works.
