The Crane/Allison optical units are a drop in, no mods, and work with the original 6 volt positive ground system. I have one in my P15 coupe for over 15 years with no trouble, and also run one in my 2wd "49 B1C. Check the Tech Tips section of www.p15-d24.com for more info.
