I am in the process of putting an original winch on my 51 M37.
It is a complete bolt-in job. No cutting, no mods. Therefore, it can easily be UNINSTALLED as well. Just keep the trans cover plate and the original front bumber and the lower grill and you are all set to convert your truck back to a WOW (WithOut Winch).
Note I'm referring to a complete original setup. A butchered job stuffing in some other winch will detract from the value, particularly if it cannot be undone.
