I Think all you need to do is get a voltage reducer (resitor) from vintage power wagon and install it on the gauge, since the sender is connected to the gauge the voltage should be safe for the sender. I need to do this for my 46 WDX but I haven't yet. As an Electrician this seems logical to me.
