Chris, according to Don Bunn's book, Dodge Trucks, the C-1 series continued in 1955 until the C-3 series took over on April 11, 1955. Also, as Paul said earlier, no 12 volt PWs until 1956. My dad had a 1955 2W drive 1/2 ton pickup with the V8 that we kept for many years. My brother drove it for about 10 years during his college years. (Yeah, TEN years...certainly the highest educated taxi driver in Reno) Definitely a 6 volt truck. I don't remember if the automatic transmission was a truck 'O' matic or loadflite, but it was a great truck with lots of power.

Also, set points to .017-.023. .030 sounds more like a spark plug gap. Correct spark plug gap is .035,BTW, and timing is 5 degrees BTC. Good luck.
