The M-37's and other military vehicles of that vintage were just given to many state and county agencys for use. At that time there were no strings attached. When the vehicle is retired then the local agency could auction it off. I have not heard of a M37 or M135 duece or Jeep ever being given to a junk yard because of regulations. NOW the new regulations in effect for Humvee's, Jeeps, Gama Goats, ect. is that the local gov't agency can use them, but upon retirement, they must be returned to the Fed's to meet their untimley death by demilling. If some local agency have a vehicle that you are interested in, keep bugging them as to when they might be retired and auctioned. If someone tells you that there is a regulation stating that they can not sell it to the public and the vehicle ends up at the junkyard or you see the county supervisors kid driving it the next day. Then go kick some A-- and find out exactly the local agencys reg's on disposal of vehicles. Tom
