That's right Guy, you would have a ping without the EGR valve. Most people don't understand how an EGR Valve works. It stands for Exhaust Gas Recirulation Valve. It actually helps to COOL the Combustion Temperature in the Cylinders. Because of this valve they are able to run more advanced timing, which helps with power and fuel mileage, and the valve also helps reduce Nox Emissions.
