Yesterday my brother baited me by asking if my Power Wagon could
pull more than his 9N Ford Tractor. Of course I told him it could,
he told me that his truck had broken a couple axles and his tractor
could not pull it. His Truck is a very large International Tandem axel
Gravel Truck and he wanted it towed 8 miles to a shop.
I take my 53 over to his place and hook a strong tow rope to it.
I have to start pulling it up a fairly steep hill and my truck is
sitting on gravel. Put it in 1st Low and start pulling, no problem
get up to 2nd Low still no problem. Pull it on to the highway and
move to 3rd and then 4th Low, I pull it up a half mile hill like this
at about 20mph and then I shift into 3rd High and drive for about a mile.
It seem to be pulling excellent to I decide to shift to 4th High and
I pulled this tandem truck the next 6 miles between 30 and 40 mph without
shifting out of high gear high range. Temp stayed under 180 and the
truck ran perfect. It has 4:89 rears, and the factory 6.
My brother could not beleive it, these trucks are awsome.
