My np 205 case in w 200 has some gear noises (like gears rubbing each other)going on at higher speeds. When I jacked truck up and engaged 4th gear had some clunking noises in it. Assume it is probably inner mainshaft bearings since front and rear bearings appear good. My question is can the mainshaft be rebuilt while transfer case is in vehicle, or should it be removed. Seems to be plenty of room front and rear if the gears could be slipped out at fron/rear or side. Thanks
