It's my eysight that needs adjusted! I went out to the truck tonight with a good trouble light rather than a flashlight like last night. When I turn the tappets I can now see the lifters turning, which is of course how it should be. I doubted they could be so far worn with so few miles on the engine. What a relief. I just need to adjust them.
I pulled the plugs and found one plug with no gaskets and one plug with two gaskets. The plugs look good with only a little oil showing on #1.
