Wendel is looking better every day. The goal is to make him a safe driver and preserve him pretty much as-is. Here's a progress report:

- Hit him with the pressure washer and used Presta Ultra Cutting Creme to remove the old wax that had been baked on in the sun.
- Buffed and mounted some old emblems (Will sell the VPWs repro emblems that came with the truck).
- Removed the rusty chrome headlight rings and put on the new ones that came with him.
- Buffed and polished an NOS radiator cap for him!
- Removed the Bendix Hydrovac brake booster and sent it to Power Brake X-Change to be rebuilt.
- Removed the gas tank (Tank had at least two cups full of rust and crud in the bottom!).
- Rinsed and degreased the tank and am sending it to the local Gas tank Renu dealer today to be sandblasted and sealed (lifetime warranty).
- Removed about five pounds of asphalt-based weatherproofing that had cracked off and fallen down on the inside of each door.
- Treated the inside of the doors with rust converter (will mount a few layers of Reflectix insulation before replacing the panels).
- Used the grinder to remove mounting brackets added to the frame by the Young Fire Equipment Corp.
- Removed the clamp-on bumpers for the helper springs, gas tank straps etc. to be sandblasted and painted.

I plan to have the frame painted and the new brake and gas lines installed in time for the Potomac Highlands Tour.
