About 10 years ago while going through CDL liscensing and placarding for Hazardous material hauling I learned a few things that surprised me. "by the book" (at that time) ANY pickup/vehicle hauling ANY gas in a can should have placards on it. They said you could be fined if they wanted to. I asked what about the tanks attached to the vehicles and he said that was different. ???

He also said any vehicle that was placarded hazardous and is involved in an accident that civilians and emergency crews must wait till a HAZMAT crew arrives to get the okay to help victims. The several cases HE told us were that THEY had fined EMT's for not waiting to give assistance to the injured before their blessing was given. That's just insane! He said one group became contaminated because they didn't wait and that was the reason for the rule. I hope it has changed but it wouldn't surprise me if it hasn't.
I been around some very inventive people in my life and there a lot of things that have not been made because of the sue happy society. The liability involved with "new" things has scared people I know from persuing the development of the idea, which is REALLY sad. In years past people would have said, "you moron, why did you do that". Now you have a personal injury lawyer wanting to represent you for your personl injury. My sermon for a Sunday ;)
