I haven't found any consistency to the D-1, D-2 D-3 and D-4 number designations. I've seen both high and low 1st gears in D-3's so I'm still trying to find documentation as to what the heck it means....I'm leaning more toward applications than gear ratios, although there are minor gear ratio changes in 2nd, 3rd and 4th, there is just not enough documentation to verify a "for certain" meaning to the D numbers.
If anyone has a factory service manual that explains the D numbers, I'd be a happy camper!
