45" tall tires on a 404 unimog is way too tall. Mine is a 1962 stock 404 with the straight 6.( 7.56 final gear ratio) I have 10.5 x R20 XL's which are 36" tall. Seems to be just right. 45" tall would make it underpowered for sure. One thing the Power Wagon has got going for it is that it achieves its H.P. and torque at a much lower rpm than the Unimog. Wonder how the Unimog would perform with a Dodge 230 in it.That is if it would fit. Probably have trouble fitting to the tranny.
I love driving the Unimog more than the Power Wagon because I can take the soft top off and drop the windshield and remove the doors. Much more comfortable and not as hot in the cab as the PW. Plus I'm over 6' tall.
I'll never part with them though.
Steve
