Look at the back of the pressure plate. There should be several sets of three low profile nuts that hold the pressure plate together and adjust the tension on the springs. mine came "adjusted" and staked from the factory. It was way off, I couldn't get the clutch to release no matter what pedal adjustment I had. You have the opposite problem?? I adjusted it in the truck. The manual sez something about clearance between disc and plate and disc and flywheel (my manual is not as near as some other folks on the forum). Use that size feeler gauge. Carefully adjust those nuts a little bit at a time. Work your way around and recheck many times. The factory stake (center punch at inside edge of nut) was not placed well and the nuts adjusted easily on mine. I used locktight and restaked.

Make sure your pedal is adjusted so this will work first. It would be an exercise in frustration if you did the pressure plate first and then readjusted it out of spec with the pedal play.

Go really slow on the adjusting nuts. Remember they hold those hundereds of pounds of spring force in place and you don't want to over loosen them.

I think you answered this, but did you make sure you got the throwout bearing and retainer and return spring aligned in there corectly? Are the pedal forks contacting the throwout bearing retainer correctly?

Best of luck
