The rubber cushions are about 1 3/4", plus a stack of oversize washers in various places. I used some 3/8 thick spacers at the fronts, and it made clearance at the tranny and pedals. Then I had to add 5/16 at the radiator. Now my hood lines up OK, and the hand crank is centered in the rad hole. I don't know about factory radiator support shims/spacer/pads. Anybody?
I do believe that the hoods scratching the fenders is caused by the body having sagged. Not to mention all the noises transmitted by the body sitting in grooves it has worn into the frame.
