The legal scale is not too far away, just enough hill between to test out the head gasket.

I think they charge $7.50, maybe more for the legal stamp.

California uses unladen weight. but it's supposed to have it's 'equipment'. I suspect my temporary flat bed ought to fill that bill. Plus, I went to the DMV this morning and paid another $42. I can legally turn it around in the street now.

Worth it? This year, last year, and next year, adds up to $225. Plus, my certificate of non-operation is iffy, they may hit me for a couple more years. and penalties. Cost to me will be a couple hours of puttering around, which is the whole point of having the truck anyhow.
