I used to run 300+ feet of 3/8" cable and even with ti wound up nice and tight it would tend to bunch up on one side when winching and a couple times came off the drum. Finally damaged the cable and had to cut off about 40 feet, it was much easier to use after that. Can't always find a tree that is straight in front of you to pull your self out!
