Dave,
If you actuate the throttle while looking down the carbs throat & no gas sprays from the accelerator pump nozzles, either the accelerator pump is no good or there is no gas in the carburator bowl.
Try that & if no gas sprays from the nozzle pointing down the carb...pull the top of the carb & see if there is gas in the bowl.
That's where I'd start.
