90w gear oil is usually a good choice. If your seals are worn and 90w leaks excessively, you might want to try to find some EZ Flow Lithium Grease, available at Cenex (CoOp) stores. It is available, you just have to find the person who knows about it. It is an excellent product for winches, steering gears, closed knuckle hubs, etc., because it doesn't thicken up in cold weather and it doesn't pack itself away from the parts that need lubricating.
