Not only these issues, but if you read the fine print, if it is "determined" that your vehicle does not meet safety requirements - you lose the right to register the vehicle for 5 years. Not just to register as an antique, but to register ... period!!

Also, if it is determined that you are using the vehicle for purposes other than travel to shows, maintenance or a short-distance, purely recreational drive - you get hit with a class 4 misdemeanor charge. It is plainly stated that you can never drive it to your place of work, but it is up to the officer to decide if your destination or route is really "recreational".

I saw this coming last year. Since the plates required no safety inspection and no county property tax - people were buying them to slap on their junkers to avoid these extra costs. Ruined a good thing for those of us who restore and maintain the old iron.

I'll be switching my vehicles back to the standard plates - it isn't worth the hassle (which is just what the government wanted).
