I bought a low mileage 1947 WDX power wagon a few years ago from new mexico and have been slowly restoring it. It have installed new bearings and seals in the diffs, replaced all the seals and gaskets in the engine and transmission and transfer case. All the brake components are new and also has a brand new cloth braided wiring harness from vintage wiring harnesses in maine. I am trying to keep it as original as possible. I have the original dealer invoice from March 27, 1947. The original sales receipt with the original owners signature on it and the original new mexico title with his signature on it as well. The problem I have now is that I am worried about over restoring it. When I bought it it had a new mexico plate on it dated 1966 which I assume was the last time it was registered. So the question I have is regarding the body. It has sat in the desert for 40 years and the paint has be completely oxidized. Should I leave the body as it is or should I redo the body as well? Let me know what you all think. Thanks.
