Where I do agree this would give you horizontal strength it does take away from the stock apperance of the split bumpers which is unique to the ffpw. Also the straight channel still will not aliveate the vertical stresses from side to side which tend to work havec at the weekest point that being where the main frame and the extention bolt together. The winch in its self does supply a degree of structural intgrity. The increase in plate thickness, tieing into the main frame and boxing in the extentions is to supply additional strength over the stock assemble from not only winching but running into something.
