Hollow point bullets were banned because of the terrific injuries they cause after entry.
That point is much mute as the modern military rifle has such a high muzzle velocity that they achieve the same results as a hollow point without the manufacturing costs.
Your typical .223 will have an entry hole the size of a pencil and leave an exit hole the size of a grapefruit....
