A 2002 (new body style) may or may not be the 2nd Gen motor with the weaker lift pump and 46RE automatic transmission. (mine is a 2002 2nd Gen truck with no issues) 2003 are all 3rd Gen motors with stout pumps and 47RE transmissions, so I'd lean towards the 2003 unless you find a great deal on a 2002.
