My truck was from Alaska. I was thinking maybe the San Leandro plant being the supplier for the Pacific coast stamped the numbers before the engine was sent north. My parts book also says that engine were supplied blank and stamped by dealers and governed by state laws. Shouldn't a flat head six used in a truck application also have a rear sump for the oil pan? Mine is front sump.Is the motor you have front or rear sump? Also where does the dip stick location enter the motor as mine is on the side of the oil pan and looks rigged by it's bad looking silver solder job. Here is the phone number of the plant if you want tom call and ask phone, Sweetwood8-6200 from my 1957 parts book. Funny to see who would answers the phone now.
