I have worked on a lot of the early "E" series and later model "D" series single cylinder Hatz engines (30 to 40 cu")over the years.
Mainly on earth compacting equipment, welders and water pumps.
The older E series are great engines.(typical German)The D`s are still great engines, but like most things these days they are being built to a price.
Once you get the starting technique sorted out they start first time ,every time and will run forever.
Parts (in Australia anyway)are readly available.
