I do remember the story of the guy with cracked tires on his trailer, who blew out 3 of the 4. I remember the pics of a guy's box trailer that had fishtailed on wet pavement- probably because he locked up his adequate electric brakes. But I don't recall anybody ever actually coming to grief by flat towing, or by using a rental trailer. I've done both, with success- and caution. I suspect I am not alone. Perhaps some of us PW owners have a little better judgement than some of the other PW owners allow for. Perhaps we maintain situational awareness more than some quoters of manuals would allow for.

Towing is like any other mechanical system. Load, speed, and TIME, together the limitations. Light loads, at low speed, for long distance. Heavier loads, high speeds, for no time at all. Use your own judgment for other combinations. Of course, others may think you have no judgment...
