The problem with getting a single wheel rear end is your tires load capacity. I also don't really want get a dually but if you do a little pencil pushing on load limits you'll see you going to have to get a dually. By manufactures standards I don't believe there is 1 ton pickup that can LEGALLY or within spec haul 2 trucks and trailer with the Gross Combined Weight Rating(GCWR)
I know the newer ones are rated a little higher but as an example a 98 1 ton dually has a GCWR of 19000 lbs. You'll exceed that easily with 2 trucks. I'm not saying people don't do it all the time, it's just something to think about. I'd be interested to know what happens, liability wise, when a accident happens when exceeding the GCWR. Anyone out there know or ever been stopped?
