I tend to agree. I know we have a natural aversion to putting any oil on a clutch, but if all the easy fixes don't work, it can't hurt to soak it with kroil to try and get it loose. Odds are, if it's thoroughly rusted to the flywheel and pressure plate (there's something about asbestos products that makes rust attach them very solidly to steel), it'll need a full clutch job anyway, but if you can break it loose with some oil, then maybe clean it up a bit with brake cleaner, you haven't done any real harm and it might work for a long time.

One of the several neat things I like about the M35s is the oil-proof clutch. The clutch "lining" consists of 5 porous bronze pads about 3" square. I got mine pretty well soaked with oil one time when I overfilled the tranny (didn't know it doesn't have a front seal), and it started to slip, but as soon as the excess oil drained off the clutch, it worked fine. I think it does wear the flywheel more than a fibrous clutch lining would, but the being oil-proof and waterproof is a nice feature.
