That just plain sucks! I know it's not just an Illinoissss thang, and people are people where ever ya go. Some are good & some are bad. The only difference between an urban & rural area is just the amount of people (although sociologist say that overcrowding has a negative impact). Thing is, socity is changing.
Back when I was growing up (the 1st time) we were taught to be individuals. I believe one of the main principles of founding this once great country (hopefully we're just goin thru a stumble now) was the right of the individual.
Now, they're pushing the group over the individual. Be a good worker bee. TEAM PLAYER! Yeah, we are a social animal, but we are also individuals. When we're constantly told that we need to care more for the group than ourselves, well, it ain't good.
Just to quantify, I spent a lot of time doin research on sociology for my degree (which I never got), and I've also studied wolves INTENSLY (although I'd LOVE to do much, much more there). Anywho, this ain't the time or place for this kinda discussion so I'll stop.
I'M REAL glad that there are STILL individuals out there (and here at this site). As grumbely as I get, as fed up with the huddeled masses as I get, I KNOW there are STILL good people out there, although I fear we're (and yes, I'd like to think I'm one of em) getting swallowed up or overshadowed by the huddeled masses.
