I like the 420. only sychro 3rd and 4th but strong and low geared. 1st and reverse are even lower than the up to and after type. good for pulling toyotas out of the ditch. popping out of 2nd going down a steep hill expecially with a load is probably just because it wanted you to shift into 3rd. maybe you didn't have it all the way into second? shifter could be worn not shifting it all the way in without a delierate motion.
