This would be a good article for the Power Wagon Advertiser. But here goes. My sons Jeep speedo stoped working and we found the cable twisted off down at the transmission. But why. So I told my son to remove the speedo head and found that it would not turn. Froze. Its then we took a closer look and we found a small port for lube covered with a brass cap. Popped it out and found a cloth wick inside. We drop some WD40 down the hole and let it soak overnight. Next day with a little work it spun free. Soaked the wick in oil and put it back together with a new cable and It works great. Thats not the end of the story. My 2 other trucks Dodge WC 3/4 tons speedos stopped working years ago. So it was time for me to check it out.found the same in both trucks. Twisted cables and froze speedos. You need to remove the large nut on the back of the speedo head to get to the lube port. I decided to take the speedo head Apart to clean and paint. You can buy a universal cable from Car Quest and cut and install the right end at the trans. It works very nice and smooth. No more jumping needle. Now on to the Command Car. Make sure your housing is Ok and be sure to lube the new cable. I use 105 white lube. Hope this helps. Bill Shollenberger.
