i ran a wire (ring terminals on each end) from the sender (through one of the mounting screws) into the frame. my tank was renued so a ground was not possible. best bet is to ground the sender and the gauge. i think the gauge depends on grounding through the mount. run a separate ground to the chassis from the gauge side too.
