If you had just put the $14k in the bank in 2002 it would be worth coming up for $25k now, so that's not a bad starting point.
The appraisal would cost you, and your insurance company would increase the premium anyway if they thought it was a high value vehicle and the appraisal agreed with that - on the other hand what would it actually cost you to replace it with an identical truck in similar condition?
If you are in any doubt just get it appraised and pay the extra premium - unlikely to be huge bucks.
