Appraisal

I have my 1954 PW insured by J. C. Taylor. It is insured for $14,000 which is what I paid for it in 2002. It appears that similar trucks are fetching prices higher than that, so I want to increase my coverage to reflect the current market
prices.

The truck was a western truck, with minimal rust, and was taken down to the frame and rebfurbished. (New paint, interior, bed wood, wiring, brakes, tires, seat, front axle seals and bearings, etc.) The engine was rebuilt professionally. It has 15,000 miles on it since 1954. The winch still has the original rope with cosmolene on it.

When I asked the insurance company to increase the coverage, they said that anything over $30,000 triggers an appraisal (at the customer's expense) so I said let's increase it to $25,000 until I can get some answers. What do you guys think? Should I get an appraisal? Does anyone know of a company that will give a fair evaluation, in other words, is there a service that understands the rather limited world of PW's and their relative scarcity?

Thanks, APB
