I was married for the first time on June 6th 2003. Someone later told me, did you plan to get married on D-Day?! I had grandfathers who both fought in the war. one was in the navy, the other in the army air core, sadly my grandfather just passed away in march. I really wish I could have known him better. my grandfather on my mom's side was an aircraft mechanic/gunner on a bomber. I can't remember what kind of plane, maybe a B-24? Liberator.he was trained by
Lockheed, and later went on to open his own mechanic shop after the war. I remember some interesting stories he had told about the war. one involved a hurried pilot who couldn't get his plane started losing his head when the prop on his plane caught him in the back of the neck when the plane started suddenly! pretty gory. I have a lot of respect for those brave men. I love history and have a long history of military service in my family. so, I have a lot of respect for those men and the horrible things they endured for our freedom.
