remove the gauge and sender and bench test the two together to ensure that they are both good and that they are compatible. you might have a bad gauge or sender. if you can successfully move the sender and get the right reading you have a ground or wire problem. i had fits with mine until i ran a direct frame ground wire to the sender. im running a runtz solid state resistor to drop the 12v to 6v. the stock resistor on my commmand car was a wire wrapped ceramic tube that dropped the voltage through heat resistance. i havent had any problems since.
