One of the most sensible features of this bumper, to me, is the slight angle to the sides. This always seemed like a problem on the other trucks in the W series. The straight bumper leaves many opportunities to get snagged on a tree or the garage door or another vehicle. This is why I made the bumper for my W300 with the non-factory taper on the bumper, altho it's a little more taper than the 500 bumper.
Dropping the winch on the 300 truck would also allow a little easier clearance ont the front crossmember under the radiator. Mine is so close I had to heat the crossmember and depress it a little with a hammer.
