When I took the doubler off the original fenders, the steel was completely rusted through underneath.
On the newer front fenders I got from VPW (from the s.e. Asia trucks) the fenders looked rust free, but one of the fenders had some pitting under the doubler, but no rust through.
I am glad I pulled them apart.
