You probably could fab your own. Just keep in
mind during design that during a runaway a trememdous amount of air flow has to be stopped instantly. When that valve closes, it has to hold and not leak or break.

I talked with a person at Roda Deaco back when I bought the one for the Carryall. He told me he built his own for his trucks and they worked fine. But due to libability he would not tell me what he used. So it can be done at home.
