have retrieved VF401. data plate indicates weight at 7250lb, dump mechanism added to what appears to be original cargo bed undoubtably added over 500lb, additional cab and stack of '40s Dodge sheet metal made 400+mile trip behind suburban most interesting, first time i have ever challanged the 454 under hood, not to mention controlling load....
Seller had '40s grill and 1/2 ton pickup bed sides that i could not secure to load. Needs these items gone,, if anyone needs them let me know, i will let him know your interest, and provide him your e-mail....
VF truck from what i can deduce runs 6.66 final drives, 750x20 tires (i may end up going with 900x20 for marginal increase in road speed). Transfer is a two speed, based on maintinance manual
drawings, i suspect low range reduction is a 2:1. Rear differential is off set and power is transfered through xfer case similar to m-series, and civi PW. maint. manual lists either Rzeppa or Bendix-Weiss for the front drive universal.
Engine is the "big block" Spifire,,tranny is of course 4 speed crash box.
