Iwas doing my first change since purchase and found not a replaceable canister but a permanent sintered metal filter shaped like a funnel in the filter container. Is this correct? Can it be replaced by a replacable canister filter, if so what brand and number? I haven't seen this type in any other old cars/trucks Ive worked on. My owners manual mentions a replaceable filter but the parts manual is not specific to the '49 230 so I only have a generic picture that I think is B-4-PW rather than B-1-PW. Help me out!
