318 engine info needed

I have a 1967 W300 with a 318 engine. Some books I have say the 318 changed a little in '67. They refer to "poly heads", etc. Can anyone answer:
1) Did it change in '67? Or when?
2) What are the main differences?
3) How can you tell by looking at the engine externally which one
it is?
4)Did ALL '67s have the new engine? Or did it change during the
model year. The reason I ask is a couple part stores both have
the same listing for a starter motor for 1967 - a long,
2-mounting bolt device. But the one in the truck is a shorter,
3-mounting bolt device. Is this one of the differences between
the two engines? I gave one part store the Chrysler number off
of the starter in the truck, and their catalogs say it matches
a listing for 1960-1966. So, I figure either (a) the part store
is wrong; (b) someone swapped the original engine in the truck
with an earlier one; or (c) it is the original engine, and some
1967 vehicles still used the earlier engine. Any ideas? Thanks.
