Kind of reminds me of the time my '69 Dart made a strange scraping noise when starting from a stop and then dissapear at about 10mph. I kept driving with my head out the window then asked a friend to drive so I could lean out further. It turned out to be TWO free lug nuts rolling around inside the hub cap. At about 10mph the centrifugal force held them in place so they couldn't make any noise.
